Why is somatic healing so beneficial?

Many people are overthinkers, stuck in their heads and disconnected from their bodies. Somatic work shifts the focus to the physical and emotional imprints of stress and trauma stored in the body. By reconnecting with these sensations and emotions, deep-rooted stress is released, calming and stabilizing the nervous system, and promoting lasting healing and overall well-being.

How does the subconscious mind influence the conscious mind?

The conscious mind is the part of you that is aware, making decisions, and actively processing information. It's where your thoughts, reasoning, and willpower reside. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Below the surface lies the subconscious mind, which controls 90-95% of your daily thoughts, actions, and behaviors.

The subconscious mind stores memories, beliefs, and past experiences, even those you may not consciously remember. It operates automatically, guiding your behavior, habits, beliefs and emotions based on these deeply rooted patterns. While the conscious mind may think it’s in charge, the subconscious regularly influences and drives the decisions you make based on past events, sometimes leading to choices and behaviors that don’t align with your true desires.

By tapping into the subconscious mind, you can uncover and address these hidden influences, helping you to make conscious decisions that align with who you truly are. This is where deep, lasting change begins.

When we create peace and balance and harmony in our minds, we will find it in our lives. ~ Louise Hay

Iceberg

The Iceberg of Behavior Change

Here you see only a small part of this iceberg peeking out above the waterline. This small part represents our conscious mind, the thoughts, decisions, and intentions we are aware of.

Beneath the water, however, lies the vast majority of the iceberg, unseen but incredibly influential. This submerged part represents our subconscious mind—our deep-seated beliefs, ingrained habits, and automatic behaviors. It is this hidden, powerful realm that truly drives our actions.

Subconscious Mind 90-95%

  • Deep-rooted beliefs and fears

  • Long-standing habits and automatic responses

  • Emotional triggers and unresolved traumas

Conscious Mind 5-10%:

  • Efforts to change behavior through willpower and self-discipline

  • Surface-level awareness of habits and intentions

  • Intentions to act differently or adopt new behaviors

Trying to change behavior solely by addressing the small, visible part of the iceberg (our conscious mind) often leads to frustration. This is because the real drivers of our behavior lie beneath the surface in the subconscious mind, where entrenched patterns and beliefs hold sway.

To effect meaningful and lasting change, it's crucial to address the vast, submerged part of the iceberg. By tapping into your subconscious mind and your own inner wisdom, you can uncover and resolve the underlying issues that drive your behaviors. The answers you seek are already within you, and only you can truly discover the path forward. No one else can define your journey—your own insights and understanding hold the key to transformation.
